LASTING POWER OF ATTORNEY
KEEP YOUR AFFAIRS IN ORDER
An essential but often overlooked document is the Lasting Power of Attorney. In the event that you become temporarily or permanently mentally incapacitated and can no longer make reliable decisions for yourself, an LPA will ensure your affairs are kept in order.
ADVANCE CARE PLANNING
An LPA (Lasting Power Of Attorney), also know as a Power Of Attorney are documents that entitles a person of your choice (known as an Attorney) to handle your affairs for you when you’re incapable of doing so. Your "Attorney" can be anybody you like, including close friends and family members.
TYPES OF LPA's
There are three types of LPA’s, all as equally as important as the other. Below are descriptions of the LPA forms we can fill out and register for you;

Property and Financial Affairs LPA:
This Lasting Powers of Attorny form gives you greater control of your finances. Without a financial LPA, bank accounts including joint accounts could be frozen. Even when you are of sound mind, LPA's can be useful. Your attorney(s) could take care of your affairs whilst you are on an extended holiday, in the event of you being hospitalised or suffering from a temporary loss of capacity in any way. A Property and Finance Affairs LPA ensure your finances are looked after by the people you trust most, in your time of need.
LPA Health and Welfare:
This LPA allows people you choose to make decisions about giving or refusing consent to particular types of health care, including medical treatment decisions. They can also decide whether or not you should stay in your own home, perhaps with help and support from social services. If it is best for you, they can also help you move into a residential home nearby.
Living Will (Advance Directive):
Advance directives are legal documents that provide advance instructions on medical care. It lets your family and health providers know your wishes regarding treatment if you're unable to make or communicate yourself. Unlike a health and welfare LPA where your loved ones makes those decisions for you, with a Living Will you decide what health treatments are allowed to be carried out.
